The new Ford Transit and Transit Custom have helped push the Blue Oval into a stronger sales position over its rivals.
Both of the vans are in the number one and two slots and the Transit nameplate is now the FIFTH bestselling vehicle in the UK and now outsells most cars.
Figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) show that in the first six months of this year, Ford sold 175,264 vans – up 11% on the same period last year.

Those sales were led by the Ford Transit and Transit Custom with 32,411 being delivered to buyers.
Ford say they are also seeing a good response to their recently launched Ford Transit Connect and Transit Courier as well as the segment-leading Ford Fiesta Van.
Ford’s chairman, Mark Ovenden, said: “We have extended our sales lead thanks to the support of our strong dealer network and our commitment to new technologies and models.”

Alongside the firm’s booming van sales is news that car sales are also on the up – they increased by 6.2% in June with 228,291 models sold.
The Ford Fiesta is the UK’s best-selling car with more than 70,000 buyers taking one home in the first half of this year.
