The order books have now opened for the new Mercedes eVito van, and the firm has revealed the specification and prices for buyers.
Mercedes says that their panel van delivers significant advances in connectivity, reliability and efficiency.
The battery delivers a range of 162 miles which will, the manufacturer says, make switching to electric a feasible proposition for many firms.
And the 66kWh battery will take 35 minutes to be recharged to 80% of its capacity when using a rapid charger.
This means that the eVito can have a range of 105 miles after a short recharging stop.
Mercedes eVito van recharge time
Otherwise, the Mercedes eVito van will take more than six hours to recharge when using an 11kW wallbox.
There’s also the opportunity of accessing Mercedes vans Home Point offerings and the firm is also offering to support businesses with their charging facilities.
The new eVito, much like the previous model, has gearshift paddles that enable drivers to adjust the van’s energy recuperation mode which will help extend battery range.
The electric motor will drive the front wheels and there’s torque of 360Nm for impressive levels of performance.
Plenty of equipment onboard
There’s plenty of equipment onboard too with drivers getting to enjoy a 7.0-inch display with smartphone connectivity, and there’s a three-year subscription to the firm’s Mercedes Me app.
Drivers get access to a range of services, including navigation with electronic intelligence that will plot routes to include public charging points.
The app will also enable remote locking and live tracking.
Drivers are also able to pre-condition the cabin by heating or cooling it when necessary, and they can also maximise their driving range to conserve battery life.
The app also monitors the van’s health and offers real-time updates on whether maintenance is required – and will contact a Mercedes dealer with the information.
eVito offers a payload of 807kg
The 3.2-tonne eVito offers a payload of 807kg, while having a load volume of 6.6 cubic metres.
The cargo area is easily accessed using either of the two side sliding doors.
New safety features for the eVito include driver attention assist, an active brake assistance system that has pedestrian recognition and there’s cruise control with an adaptive speed limiter.
All eVitos come with an unlimited mileage, three-year warranty with the battery cover extending to eight years or 160,000 km.
Prices start at £43,600 for the new Mercedes eVito.
