It’s one of the most popular vans on our roads and there’s a new Mercedes Vito aimed at operators working in the ‘urban environment’.
Mercedes says its new model has a UK focus with the aim of improving fuel economy when driving around town and helping to reduce driver fatigue.
The Mercedes Vito Urban will also have a lower rate of wear and tear, the firm claims.
The new model will feature the firm’s excellent seven-speed 7G-Tronic Plus gearbox as part of its standard kit and, Mercedes says, the Urban will be the only mid-size van on sale with a full torque converter automatic gearbox to boost fuel economy.
Mercedes Vito Urban also has satnav to help drivers
The new Mercedes Vito Urban also has satnav to help drivers navigate complex city streets with an innovative lane recommendation system set in the instrument cluster.
The satnav will also calculate the most fuel-efficient way to boost fuel savings and there will also be a speed limit display so the driver will avoid picking up speeding tickets.
Mercedes have also added a reversing camera which also doubles as a close range camera which focuses on the area around the rear doors with the image being displayed on a full colour screen in the dashboard.
When reversing, the camera and screen will display dynamic guidelines to help improve manoeuvrability as well as spotting potential hazards, including pedestrians, who may be behind the Mercedes Vito Urban.
Vito Urban will only be available as the 114 BlueTEC
So far, the Vito Urban will only be available as the 114 BlueTEC though it will be in the long, extra-long and compact body lengths.
Most potential buyers of the Mercedes Vito Urban will also get to enjoy the BlueTec diesel engine’s impressive 46 mpg on the combined cycle while having emissions of 161g/km – among the lowest in its class.
Prices for the Vito Urban start at £22,720 ex VAT and Mercedes have a special offer on for 0% APR finance with a cash deposit contribution.
